Welcome, Sharon !

We’re delighted to welcome Sharon Race as the new Coordinator of Newcastles of the World, from 1 December. Not that she’s new to our alliance – as her message below shows.

“I’m thrilled to be appointed as the new Coordinator for Newcastles of the World.
Having been involved as both a member and conference attendee, I’ve already experienced the warmth, creativity, and shared pride that connect our global family of Newcastles— I’m looking forward to helping to strengthen those ties.
My background is in project coordination: arts and cultural programming, community engagement, and stand alone events. I’ve worked across charities, creative industries, and public-sector partnerships, building and executing initiatives that focus on supporting ideas, bringing groups together, and letting people shine.
I’m also a writer and film maker – you can view my short vlog-style films of the conferences in Nové Hrady, and, more recently, Jaunpils on You Tube!
I’m excited about expanding opportunities for collaboration, cultural exchange, and youth involvement, ensuring more people from our Newcastles feel part of the network, so that we’ll see more exchanges, more shared projects, and more opportunities for people of all ages to get involved. Newcastles of the World has huge potential. If you have an idea, a project, or simply want to connect, please get in touch.
newcastles@sharonrace.co.uk Happy Holidays to all and here’s to Newcastles of the World in 2026!”
