Location New Castle is a city in Henry County, Indiana, 44 miles (71 km) east-northeast of Indianapolis, on the Big Blue River.
Population 17,396 (2020)
Brief Description Founded in 1822, the city is surrounded by a farming district and covers an area of 5.9 sq mi (15.4 km2).  It is home to the largest high school gymnasium in the world (capacity 9,325) and has produced many basketball stars. It is the home of the famous pop artist Robert Indiana (originator of the LOVE sculpture)
