Following the fantastic success of our previous anthology, Proud to Call it Home*, we are passing the microphone to the next generation!
Voices of Our Newcastles brings together children and young people from across our worldwide alliance to share what it really means to grow up in a “Newcastle”. This isn’t just a book project—it’s a global celebration connecting classrooms from the UK, Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, South Africa, Switzerland, the USA, and beyond.
Our Newcastles of the World Education Leaders are leading the charge, working directly in their local schools to co-create poetry with their pupils.
What’s the theme?
“My Newcastle: Present & Future” We want young people to capture the sights, sounds, history, and energy of their hometown- and share their hopes for its future.
How it works:
- In the Classroom: Education Leaders run creative writing sessions with their pupils.
- Submissions: Each participating school selects their top student entries and uploads them via our portal.
- The Book: Selected entries will be edited into a high-quality global anthology.
- The Reward: Every featured writer receives an official Digital Winner’s Certificate, and their work will be published online and in print globally.
